Once you have completed the preoperative process, you will walk back to one of our top-of-the-line operating rooms. Laser Spine Institute developed state-of-the-art operating rooms that are managed by innovative surgical staff. We strive to stay ahead of the curve with technological advancements. The operating rooms at Laser Spine Institute Tampa include holmium lasers, portable C-arm fluoroscopy with “image push” capability to the PACS system, high definition surgical cameras and video monitors, electronic charting and in-room picture archiving and communication system (PACS) viewing monitors for MRI and X-ray image displays.
A typical minimally invasive procedure involves the surgeon placing a small tube into the incision. Tubes of increasing size are placed over the initial tube to slowly create an opening to the spine. This allows for minimal damage to any surrounding muscles and tissue. Direct visualization is used along with suction, irrigation and any other necessary surgical instruments. Once all instruments are properly placed, the surgeon removes any bone or tissue that is compressing the nerve.
At our Tampa Surgery center, the typical surgery will last from one to three hours. During the entire procedure in the operation room, you will be under sedation. The anesthesia administered helps to keep you as comfortable as possible during and after the procedure while our top-notch medical team coordinates your care and monitors your vitals.
