The Laser Spine Institute surgery center in St. Louis has three Class C operating rooms that feature state-of-the-art technology. In each operating room, our surgeons have access to high-definition endoscopic cameras and video monitors, holmium lasers, portable C-arm fluoroscopy and in-room picture archiving and communication system viewing monitors for MRI and X-ray image displays. Our highly skilled surgeons utilize this innovative equipment to perform minimally invasive, outpatient procedures to address neck and back pain.
At Laser Spine Institute, our physicians and surgeons carefully evaluate all surgical candidates to determine the most appropriate treatment, which may or may not include surgery. For certain patients, minimally invasive spine surgery is often the clinically appropriate first choice and provides many advantages over traditional open spine surgery, such as no hospitalization and a less arduous recovery.
Some of the laser-assisted procedures that our surgeons perform in the operating rooms in our St. Louis surgery center include:
- Foraminotomy to relieve pressure on compressed nerve roots exiting the spinal cord
- Laminotomy to alleviate stress on the spinal cord caused by spinal stenosis
- Discectomy to remove a portion of a herniated disc that is pressing on a nerve root
- Facet thermal ablation to desensitize painful nerves in a spinal facet joint
Our dedication to performing and perfecting minimally invasive procedures has made Laser Spine Institute the largest spine surgery center in the nation. This advantage grows every week, leading to a higher level of expertise as we help thousands of patients reclaim their lives in St. Louis and elsewhere across the nation.
